Charities & Care

Over fifty years’ experience advising charities, not-for-profit and care providers across the UK.

About us

Transparent by design

Charities and care organisations operate in complex, high-stakes environments. They support people, communities and provide essential services while operating under close financial, regulatory and public scrutiny. Insurance in this context is not a box-ticking exercise – it is a matter of trust, judgement and long-term stewardship.

Bartlett has over fifty years’ experience advising charities, not-for-profit organisations and care providers across the UK — from organisations supporting vulnerable service users to some of the country’s largest voluntary groups.

We invest the time to understand how our clients actually operate, where risk truly sits and how it is managed.

That depth of understanding allows us to give informed advice, present risk clearly to insurers and negotiate cover that reflects reality. Skimping on effort at this stage introduces uncertainty – which can lead to gaps in cover, clients paying more than they should, and weaker outcomes when claims arise.

Our Approach

Transparent relationships

We are commercially independent and not driven by short-term market pressure. That independence allows us to prioritise long-term client relationships over short-term profit, and to invest properly in the quality of our advice.

We advise on the whole market and are free to place risk where it is best understood and most fairly priced. We also operate on a transparent, fee-based basis, so our interests are fully aligned with yours.

Meaningful disclosure

Our clients entrust us with their financial security and safety. We repay that trust by taking the time to be properly informed. We invest the time and expertise to understand our clients in depth – from finance and governance to care delivery and fundraising – in order to identify where risk sits and how it is managed.

This allows us to present a clear, accurate picture to insurers, educate underwriters properly and position risk more favourably.

Sector expertise

Charity and Care leaders already manage competing demands. Insurance shouldn’t be another. We do not ration expertise or over-stretch our people. Instead, we give our specialist charity and care teams the time, space and support they need to provide unbiased, in-depth advice that translates into robust, appropriate cover.

Holding ourselves accountable in this way is what gives our clients the peace of mind they deserve.

Our impact

Rebuilding trust in insurance

A nationwide membership organisation representing hundreds of clubs was losing confidence in its insurance arrangements. The cover in place was a standard, off-the-shelf policy that failed to reflect how clubs actually operated.

Following a broker review, Bartlett was appointed to address these concerns.
